Ana Cuba’s work is a bit surreal, often quite colorful, and unfailingly engaging. Whether applying her creative vision to portraiture, fashion, beauty, or sports, she composes compelling one-frame narratives that celebrate the extraordinary and make the everyday appear delightful. She’s known for her vibrant use of color, but movement is also a recurring theme. Subjects are captured dancing or reclining, laughing to themselves or interacting with one another, every gesture and facial expression an organic articulation of their humanity.
Born in Spain and based in both Barcelona and London, Ana has made personal work central to her practice. Her self-directed projects range from tender portraiture and abstract images of the human body to vast, otherworldly landscapes and idiosyncratic urban scenes.
In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?
When I observe nature, I can sense a blend of chaos and order, a kind of structured randomness that often inspires and shapes my visual work.
What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?
The opportunity to zoom out from our little unimportant lives into something much bigger and far greater. It’s a wonderful gift we possess as humans, this ability to consciously tap into that sense of vastness.
