PHOTOGRAPHS AND WORDS BY SACKITEY TESA
Group shoots were always challenging for me. Direction, cohesion, and getting unity in diverse people was always a little difficult. It wasn’t like a one-person shoot where all you focus on is the person. My shoot with the skater girls however turned out so different. The ladies though diverse and unique in each way, had a bond, cohesion, and oneness which was rare and profound. Their movements were coordinated, yet fluid.
Working with them gave me an opportunity to learn and experience a different kind of photography I was not exposed to. I enjoyed our work together and look forward to collaborations in the future.
In the face of the climate crisis, one thing is clear: we will only get to an ecologically just future by way of working together. If humankind is to heal its relationship to the rest of creation, it must restore harmony—which cannot exist without collaboration. And what could be more emblematic of holism and harmony than a hive?
