In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?

Regardless of the project, I try very hard to keep the species and ecosystems I’m writing about in the foreground. They need to be the main characters, not just a conduit for discussing ourselves. The workings of the biosphere are all that really make sense to me in this line of work.

What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?

I’ll let you know when I find one. In the meantime, I’m grateful for the fragments. Watching them slowly piece themselves back together, or spontaneously assume new and resilient shapes, is why I started writing.
