In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?

Humans have an inherent connectedness to land. My husband, Joe, and I run Y Knot Farm + Ranch in Oregon’s Umpqua Valley, with a focus on regenerative, pasture raised meats. To be a steward and an active participant in the ecosystem is both an honor and what feels like a birthright. To be with and a part of land is every human’s inherent calling. Being a part of the environment colors everything I do, especially when it comes to how I mother and how I make artwork.

What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?

To be a part of a thriving ecosystem, you must see yourself as a part of nature, rather than a separate entity outside of it. You must be an active participant.
