In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?
Nature is a safe space for me. It is where I can be myself. I have grown up close to nature; Slovakia is a small country where forests cover most of the area. I spent summers in the forests, playing in the creeks. I used to pick up mushrooms with my grandfather and my mom. All of this was a natural part of my life and I have always appreciated it. Once I started covering climate change and I traveled to more and more communities impacted by it, frustration came along with the need to do something. So I chose to write about both the destruction and the solutions for nature and in the end, for us too.
What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?
If the ecosystem I am part of is thriving, I am thriving too. To be part of such an ecosystem means reciprocity. It means connection. Belonging.
