Hailing from the prairies of Western Canada, Landon’s work has been described as quiet, and thoughtful. With a strong curiosity to document both people and places, he has followed personal projects and commissions across cities, forests, deserts and mountains.
Focusing predominantly on people at their vocations, and the stillness of nature, he has worked with the likes of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Vogue and W Magazine. He is based between Brooklyn and upstate New York, where he can often be found at the nearest swimming hole during the warmer months.
In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?
Nature is both gentle and violent, barren and lush, encompassing so many different extremes. And while it’s completely indifferent to our opinions of it, our actions however, have a massive impact. That vulnerable relationship, and the beauty it aesthetically holds, is a massive inspiration to myself and informs the work I make. States of growth and decay, stillness and chaos- inspire a reverence that is cherished.
What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?
To be continually trying to identify both your own impact, and role within it. To be engaged in knowing that evolves over time, and that both macro and micro perspectives are important.
