In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?
I was born and raised in the South Jersey Pine Barrens, in the heart of the the Pinelands National Reserve. My entire family are avid outdoorsmen, and a deep reverence for nature runs in my blood. Though I’ve spent most of my adult life living in cities, I’m still most comfortable in rural and wild places, and take every opportunity to emphasize their importance in my work as a journalist and author.
What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?
Do no harm, and leave everything in better shape than when you got there.
