Kate Fishman writes about climate, ecology, and the arts. She produces the podcast Loneliness Mess, which explores belonging through conversations about feeling lonely.

In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?

Nature inspires and informs my work in all ways! I am small. Fantastic things are possible. Capitalism has wrought horrors. But to frame it as superficially as possible, if I could stare at the ocean like Roy Scheider in Jaws all day long, I would.

What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?

Being part of a thriving ecosystem to me means that-on a systemic level- everybody gets what they need, everybody shares, and everybody supports that balance. That includes a deep attention to ecology and history.
