In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?

I’ve always been captivated by the natural world and its inhabitants; it’s what inspired me to study life science, and ultimately write about it for a living. I hope to share that fascination with my readers.

What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?

I’m not sure the ecosystem around me – the forest in my part of Germany – is thriving these days, thanks to short-sighted management and climate change. But I hope one day we’ll better recognize our responsibility towards nature and help our ecosystems thrive again.
