In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?

Growing up in a small town tucked high in the Eastern Sierra Mountains, nature was always around me. Even the town’s economy was deeply connected to the land. From a young age, I developed a profound respect for nature, learning to appreciate its beauty and understand its power. We lived through dry, hot summers and endured heavy snowfall for half the year, both of which shaped my deep connection to the natural world.

What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?

We now live in a world that is completely globalized, and because of this, it’s more important than ever to educate each other on how to protect the land in the best way possible. There’s no more land being created. We have what we have, and it’s up to us to take care of it, and each other. In a world where everything is interconnected, the impact of our actions ripples across borders. Our responsibility is not just to the environment, but to the communities that depend on it. By learning, sharing knowledge, and acting with care, we can ensure that the land we have is preserved for future generations.
