Dalí Nelio is a photographer and videographer from Juchitán, Oaxaca. He began his career in early years experimenting with film and later moving on to digital. His first steps into photography started with street photography and slowly moved toward landscape and nature.
In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?
It inspires my work in such a way that I feel like a canvas, where nature expresses itself.
What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?
I was born in the womb of the Zapotec culture. Our ancestors called our tongue the language of the trees, the birds and the turtles. I carry the duty to photograph the essence of the ecosystem I’m in, whether it’s in my hometown or any other place in the world. I see myself as part of the ecosystem, and for me this is the true meaning of being alive.
