In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?
Ever since I was a child, bounding barefoot along moss-lined woods and peering into the nooks and crannies of tide pools to examine ecosystems, nature has both inspired and informed nearly every facet of my work. My notebook and camera are my favorite items to utilize as tools for exploration, admiration, creative expression, and learning — and nature is the most wonderful muse.
What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?
Thriving ecosystems are made up of independent organisms that support and sustain one another. Staying true to an individual self, while uplifting and connecting with those around you is what this means to me. Having empathy, making knowledge and our natural world accessible, caring for the species and beings around us, and recognizing that we as humans are not placed atop a hierarchy in our planet, but rather are an equal part of it.
