Aditi Mayer is a storyteller working at the seams of climate, culture, and craft. Her work is where ancestral memory meets future vision—documenting the people, practices, and politics shaping more just system: fashion and beyond. From the fields of India to LA’s garment district, she shares stories that remind us sustainability is not trend, but tradition.
Through cinematic visuals and investigative writing, Aditi invites her audience to engage deeply—with the threads that connect land, labor, and legacy. Her work doesn’t just ask us to consume less, but to reimagine the systems we inherit.
In what ways does nature inspire or inform your work?
Nature is both archive and ancestor in my work. It shapes not just aesthetics, but ethics—guiding how I think about interdependence, revival, and resistance. Whether through craft or climate storytelling, I return to nature as a compass.
What does it mean to you to be part of a thriving ecosystem?
It means working in ways that honor the full chain of creation—from seed to stitch, from story to system. As someone in sustainable fashion, a thriving ecosystem isn’t just environmental—it’s cultural. It looks like farmers growing indigenous cotton, artisans sustaining ancestral techniques, and communities reclaiming authorship over their narratives. It’s about ensuring that every part of the process—human and nonhuman—is seen, valued, and sustained.
