Born in New York City, Luis Alberto Rodriguez trained to become a professional dancer throughout his childhood. He ultimately received his BFA from The Juilliard School in New York, and went on to perform all over the world for the next fifteen years. A self taught photographer, his focus shifted from dance onto photography after moving to Berlin. From this point on he developed his unique perspective, drawing upon his career as a dancer, the places he has lived in, as well as his Dominican heritage. Rodriguez’s work touches upon elements of fine art, fashion and documentary photography in various combinations. He finds beauty across all subject matters and often finds intrigue in the abstraction of the human form.

Rodriguez’s work has been featured in various exhibitions and publications around the world. In 2017, Rodriguez won both the Prix de Public and the American Vintage prize at the 32nd Hyeres Festival of Fashion and Photography. In 2018, Rodriguez was featured as one of Red Hook Labs New Artists. He was also awarded a residency at Cow House Studios in Wexford Ireland in collaboration with FUTURES and Photo Ireland.
