Rooted in a personal journey of reconnection with ancestry, culture, and nature, Brasa began when I traveled back to Brazil after years of living in the United Kingdom. I arrived not long after the passing of my grandfather, who carried Native heritage, and felt compelled to explore the cultural and natural diversity of the country.
From the vibrant greenery of the Amazon region to the lush southern landscapes, Brazil—almost a continent in its size and diversity—felt like an unexplored world to me. I was driven by a deep need to discover its vastness. Through this journey, I documented the intricate relationship between humans, their cultural expressions, and the natural world, creating a visual narrative that reflects Brazil’s immense landscapes, its people, and their enduring connection to the land. Emerging as a culmination of these explorations and reflections, Brasa is both a celebration of identity and an exploration of belonging.
