Dear Earth,
All of the beauty I’ve ever known is yours. At last, I made it to your home. My neighbors will say hello with croaks and squeaks while the insect highways fill the air with a gentle energetic hum. Your generosity is the sustenance of our jubilee, and all are welcome to join.
Everyday I watch our own government continue to sell us down the river. The Rosebank oil field is the largest undeveloped oil field in the North Sea, and together with the energy company Equinor, this is their latest pursuit. Yet the science is clear: we cannot have any new oil and gas in the midst of a climate emergency if we are to stay within 1.5 degrees of warming. Yet these ‘leaders’ continue to prioritise profit over people. Dear Earth, you are not forgotten. We are here to say loud and clear that we will never stop until justice is served. We won’t stop until we #StopRosebank.
Dear Earth,
The weight of the world often feels heavy on my heart and soul, but when I am weighed down by the realities of this world I am pulled closer to you. To keep hold of a heart that is as soft and as fertile as soil is to know you.

Heartfelt Greetings to You.

A shower of Love.
A love we neglect as we take
Your provenance for
granted.
As we instigate
ourselves as Primary.
Ignoring that

Thank You
Dear Earth,
Words are not enough. We do not share the same tongue, you and I. But we speak in rhythms. Dance in cycles. These tokens lined in black and light can only be for me. Selfish letters. But I hope you hear my actions echo out, drumming rest and revolution.
Dear Earth,
I hold hope and despair for a future in which joy is a choice and action against land exploitation is not. Mother Earth, my mother, my older sister, her twins, and I depend on it.
Dear Earth,
Your ocean waters are the primordial engine keeping all life in balance–and we are your grateful passengers. Together, we are learning how to protect and restore your fragile ecosystems and climate. Over the years, I have seen firsthand what people can achieve when we rise as one to solve even the greatest of challenges. You have given us the food on our tables, the air in our lungs, and the will to thrive against all odds.
Dear Earth,
How can I write you a letter that isn’t also to myself? You granted me my very bones. One day I’ll return them, particles redistributed across ages as continents shuffle and seas shift. Against the span of time, I’m happy to have a moment to say I love you.
Dear Earth,
Every word I write is for you, every line and meter by which I measure my life. You were my first love, and you will be my last.
